cheryl: Reading

Since I’ve been home by myself for a few days I’ve done a lot of reading. The one I’ll mention is Second Wave: Acorna’s Children by Anne McCaffery. I enjoyed her first series of these books the Acorna books that have some very good imagery. I keep trying to get James to read them because he keeps thinking of ideas and I keep saying these books have a lot of that kind of stuff, like plants that are conscious.

Second Wave

Anyway, here is the cover of the second series second book that is much better than the first of this series.

cheryl: New Home!

Yesterday we had a message waiting for us when we got home. The owners accepted our bid so now we have to get a pre approved loan and wait for the owners to call saying the government approved the sale of these condos, ours is the 2b 2 1/2 bath w/ loft:  http://gallerialiving.com/ws_floorplan01.html . This process is a little different than going through a realtor and buying a home with land. These are just being approved to sell and we went straight to the seller. Why pay the middle man?

cheryl: New Home?

Well I am rather excited. Yesterday James and I put an offer on a condo/townhouse. The sales rep said we’d hear back from the owners within seven days. Now we wait.

james: Score one for Interactive Ruby

I can never remember how to do loops in shell scripts, but since I learned today that Ruby supports the ` operator I will never need to :) .

I’m making a whole bunch of buttons for an OSCommerce theme and I wanted to make a copy of my template for each button. A little experimentation in irb led me to:

`ls`.each {|item| `cp ../button_template.xcf #{item.gsub(/\.gif/, '.xcf')}`}

Hurray for lazy programers :) .
