cheryl: So Much to Do!

Yesterday I purchased all of our appliances….wow that’s expensive! In an hour I managed to spend almost as much as I paid for my car. I did buy the fridge that I had my eye on and red! front load washer and dryer. If anyone is needing any appliances now is a good time to buy Maytag brand. Maytag at Home Depot is having month of May sale with additional rebate so even though my fridge was originally $2799 I got it for “only” $1999 and a mail in rebate that will show up who-knows-when. Next we’re riping out our bedroom carpet and installing laminate flooring. Unfortunately, we have to order the flooring so we’ll be camping in another room for a while. AND THE GARAGE STILL ISN’T FINISHED PAINTING!!! poor poor us ;)

cheryl: Home Sweet Home

Almost….We’ve started moving a few things over and some of the previously mentioned furniture items have shown up. Last night we put together the entertainment “center” that James did take pictures of. He’s a little busy right now with on-call issues or I’d have him post pictures…actually we’d be over at the condo painting the garage but whatever. The biggest disappointment is that the master bedroom carpet still smells like urine! We’re going to try some deodorizer from the pet store and if that doesn’t work we’ll call back the Sear carpet cleaner and if that doesn’t work we’re ripping it out and putting in wood flooring.

cheryl: Update

Not much has been going on till today.  We got keys at 5:30 on Friday and our wonderful realtor, Mark Peek with Keller Williams, even gave us a house warming gift from Hollywood video. If anyone is needing a great! realtor between Sacramento and Oroville he’s definitely worth using. We haven’t taken any pictures since the walk-through about a month ago because it looks the same. Today power was turned on, locks have been changed and about 11am the carpet cleaner will start cleaning up the pet stains on the carpet. James has volunteered to spend the day waiting for everyone to show up. Neither of us is feeling all that well so after lunch we’ll probably start looking for a bed. James had planned to sand the garage walls before painting but we’ll see how much happens today. The plan is to spend tomorrow evening painting the walls and Thursday evening sealing the cement. I’ll ask James to take a picture or the carpet cleaning.

cheryl: Progress

Packing has picked up around our place, about as fast as a snail. Furniture has started to be disassembled and boxes are starting to fill the second bedroom. There is so much to be done and now that classes are starting again for both of us we have a very full plate. To make our new place a little more exciting I’ve ordered Iris, from schreinersgardens.com, to plant in our very limited dirt patch and a new chaise that’s location will be determined at a later date. We’ve picked out a likely set of appliances, GE Adora collection, at the Home Depot. One bedroom has been designated for guests (mainly so I can decorate another bedroom) and another for a study . First things first, though, we will have all the carpets steam cleaned and pet proofed and the garage floor and walls painted. All is proceeding at a slow pace but I’m sure will pick up as we get closer to our move in date, Memorial weekend. Anyone who is crazy enough to volunteer to help is welcome. We start the 25th and go till the 28th, maybe with a Sunsplash break in the middle. Thankfully we’re also taking a long weekend for our anniversary the next weekend to recover.
