cheryl: A Nice Quiet Evening

It’s a good thing the evening was quiet (actually James went to bed an hour ago) cause work has been stressful lately, some was enjoyable but also not and stressful.

After work I wanted to visit Costco now that we have a club card for the first time in 6 years. James and I wandered the very busy store  and sampled some tasty mini cinnamon buns. We ended up with a year supply of paper plates and two years worth of tooth paste and tooth brush refills. I will be having my favorite strawberries for breakfast so I’m happy. Oh and I got some beautiful flowers that we’ll call pre-anniversary flowers :D

Love these big blooms!

I made ravioli with fresh snap peas and little links for dinner with a bottle of “wine”.

P.S: I just have to say that twist tops  on the fre just aren’t cool. I know it isn’t really wine with the alcohol removed but the twist top really removes any illusion of high class indulgence. I want my cork back!

cheryl: The Weekend

I took some pictures over the weekend and thought I’d share.

Friday I had the soaping bug and ended up with 6 different soaps. The greenish one is already for sale in my store as well as a yellow one not in this picture.

Spent some time laying on the floor Saturday enjoying the view

The fan was on but this is what the camera got

Peaches (left) and Dora (right) lounging

Fluffy clouds out the window

cheryl: Results of the Silent Auction for Linda

The silent auction for Linda went really well several weeks ago. There was a thoughtful slide show of her life, family, and the accident. She really pushed herself to make an appearance for those that haven’t seen her yet, even though I could tell it was difficult for her.

I won bids for two quilts, a set of bowls, sterling silver bracelet and earrings, a hand knit purse that James mom made, and a pearl and stone necklace for Sandy that I’d made and donated. We all had lots of fun for a very good cause. Sunday brought in a very good amount but won’t cover everything. Anyone who would still like to donate to help with medical expenses is still welcome to. And a special thanks to everyone who contributed with time and money to make it all happen.

Here are a few pictures from the day’s activities.

cheryl: Remembering my graduation

Found this post I’d written…...probably six months ago. Enjoy.
—————————
My ten year is coming up quick and memories of younger years pop up when I least expect them. Last year a co-worker left the office and I started searching for farewell quotes. This reminded me of high school and those I haven’t seen since. I’m actually not sure what my class chose for the graduation poem…something about reaching for the sky…but two poems do stand out.

The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
-Robert Frost  (I read this poem to my 7th grade class)

the other was a silly poem…barely a poem at that

The Red Wheelbarrow

so much depends
upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens.

William Carlos Williams
